Massage

Richard Voyce Massage is an ancient medical treatment, the origins of which can be traced back to China as far as 3000 BC. There are also many references to the use of massage in ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt, as well as more recently from the 14th century to the present day.

The ancients Greeks even used massage on athletes both before and after sport to prepare their muscles for competition and then to remove excess fluid and metabolites afterwards. This practice is still carried out today in both professional and amateur sport.

In the 19th century in the UK, massage became a specialized branch of nursing, which led to the formation of the Society of Trained Masseuses in 1895. Interestingly, this group evolved into the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.

Massage is beneficial for everybody, as it encourages healing of both body and mind. It improves your performance, be it athletic or when carrying out your daily tasks. The benefits provided by massage have never been more vital than in the busy hectic world of the 21st century, where work pressures, family life and time constraints combine to place us under a great deal of stress.
